Discrete Curvature and Torsion-based Parameterization Scheme for Data Points

Parameterization for data points is a fundamental problem in the field of Computer Aided Geometric Design. Recently, an improved centripetal parameterization technique is proposed by Fang et al and its superiority to other common methods, such as uniform method, chord length method, centripetal method, Foley method and universal method, etc., is validated by a lot of numerical examples. In this...

Curvature and Torsion Quintessence

The issues of quintessence and cosmic acceleration can be discussed in the framework of higher order curvature and torsion theories of gravity. We can define effective pressure and energy density directly connected to the curvature or to the torsion fields and then ask for the conditions to get an accelerated expansion. Exact accelerated expanding solutions can be achieved for several fourth or...

Curvature and Torsion Estimators for 3D Curves

We propose a new torsion estimator for spatial curves based on results of discrete geometry that works in O(n log n) time. We also present a curvature estimator for spatial curves. Our methods use the 3D extension of the 2D blurred segment notion [1]. These estimators can naturally work with disconnected curves.

Torsion Points And

We study the behavior of the greatest common divisor of a k − 1 and b k − 1, where a, b are fixed integers or polynomials, and k varies. In the integer case, we conjecture that when a and b are multiplicatively independent and in addition a− 1 and b − 1 are coprime, then a k − 1 and b k − 1 are coprime infinitely often. In the polynomial case, we prove a strong version of this conjecture. To do...
